Review: Chola

I have been to Chola many times over a few years. Both for the buffet lunch and for dinner. I do enjoy Indian food very much but I am averse to a large part of the cuisine so I will not sample everything or even most of what is available. Chola has a fairly wide range of choices on the menu for many tastes. Though this is somewhat Americanized.

Review: A Voce

Another newish, high-end Italian restaurant in Manhattan. I should not even bother, as I do not with every other new place with raves and promises of great Italian cuisine with an upscale twist. There are only a handful (if that) of Italian spots where I would choose to dine in NYC. Also, one of my old mates with a fair opinion was not impressed. First Review: Patsy’s

It will take some time to fill in all the places to make a complete list so I am just starting it up as they come to me. New, old, whatever. This one is first.

I recently went to Patsy’s, the Harlem original, on a new urge to find some very good or even excellent pizza. Honestly, I really only think very highly of one place. It is in Manhattan, a few others are fine, most are rubbish. This goes for all the boroughs though I will write a general pizza guide some other time. Read the rest of this entry »

I Hate Eggs and Cilantro(and Other Items)

1.The eggs part is not quite true. I believe due to a Pavlovian reaction rooted in my schoolboy days, I will not eat eggs as a stand alone item. Scrambled, deviled, over easy, any way, gross. I have no problem with eggs used as an ingredient. I even love quiche but only a really good one that is more about the other ingredients than it is about being an egg pie. When I make one, I usually reduce the yolk count.

Another item off the list, French Toast. Too eggy, it comes through on its own even with the bread, sugar, etc. Read the rest of this entry »
